For the TPS62177, is the design inherently low enough of a radiator such that using the recommended layout and inductor[s] will typically pass FCC unintended radiation requirements or do most designs using this component place an RF / magnetic shield around this device and the inductor (and capacitors)?

I have not seen many designs with an RF shield around it. For sure, this IC is rather low power and therefore emits less radiated energy.

To make sure this device is the best choice, what input voltage and output current do you need?

400mA transient, 50mA avg; very wide input voltage as per this device's specs.
