Lm3478

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24002, LM3478

what will be Rload  for calculation of compensation if I am connecting  charger  IC bq24002 at the output capacitor ?

why does LM3478 have two grounds [ agnd , pgnd]

  • Hello Akanksha,

The BQ24002 provides up to 1.2 A to its load. Since this is minimum guaranteed, you should plan to support ~1.5x that load to cover for part to part variation. Plan on providing 2 A.

The LM3478 has two grounds because one of the grounds is used to discharge the gate of the boost’s MOSFET. This can create a voltage spike on the PGND pin. Even if this spike is not observed outside the IC, inside the IC’s package this spike can be large. At the same time, the current sense pin is sensitive to 10’s of mV. This pin needs to be references to a different pin, AGND.
