LM27761 equivalent in SOIC package?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM27761, LME49721, LM27762, OPA1612

Hello

LM27761 negative voltage converter has an excellent performance but the WSON-8 package is tiny for trial PCB (i mean that the device will be soldered with hot air at workbench). I tried many times to locate an equivalent (i need -2.5V / 150mA output for a Vin=5Vdc, i.e. the Vbus of USB input) in other package without success. Is there any equivalent part in e.g. SOIC-8 package?

Thank you!

  • Hello

Any equivalent part to LM27761 or close to its performance, in a more convenient package for prototyping than WSON-8, would be acceptable.

I repeat that for my prototype i need a +5Vdc to -2.5Vdc converter, with low output ripple current of 100mA and above. Actualy it will supply 3 X LME49721 which of the Iq current is just 3 X 2mA = 6mA but i don't know how much will be the total consumption within the actual circuit. For that reason i have calculated a safe value of 100mA at least.

    Any advice would be welcomed.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Unfortunately I don't know  any alternatives which would match your specification. If you have access to  hot air, flux  and some kind of microscope, soldering the LM27761 is not difficult task.

  • Thank you very much Juha

I am going to build a phono module supplied from a USB port Vbus. You could understand why the low ripple current specification.
The other symmetrical voltage converter LM27762 is exactly what i need but unfortunately very difficult to obtain, Mouser and Farnell have not stocked it, only the single LM27761 is available. As such, i will order from TI store 1-2 LM27762 as samples.
TI also proposes the OPA1612 which is a very nice IC, with better specs than LME49761, but is very expensive!
Any way, i will try and this (footprint and pinout is the same for both) IC in a second prototype PCB.
I have all the above tools you refer available on my workbench.

I will let you know for the result.
