BQ51221 Consortium licensing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51221

Looking at the BQ51221 for a project and I was wondering if we would need to join either WPC or PMA to use their protocols? It's for an industrial application, so the numbers are maybe 1000 units per year.

  • Hello Anthony
If the design will be certified and display WPC or PMA logo yes you will need to join.
If you are designing a proprietary design that will only be used with your Transmitter this is not needed. But cannot display logo or claim certification.

Do you need the ability to work with WPC and PMA transmitters? Do you need to operate with any certified transmitter?
