TPS62730, does it have thermal shutdown?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540

Does this device feature a thermal shutdown device to avoid overheating?, why it is omitted?.

Most DC/DC has build in shutdown and detailed in datasheet. This datasheet mention nothing about thermal shutdown so I assumed it lack such device.

Can you propose alternative device with thermal shutdown for CC2540, thanks.

  • You are correct. There is no thermal shutdown in this family of devices. The output power is typically much lower than its 100 mA rating, so there is very little temperature rise in the device. As well, thermal shutdown adds to the current consumption of the device. Why do you want thermal shutdown? What is the ambient temp range of your design?

What input voltage source do you have in your system? This will help recommend a new device, if needed.
