Sealed device - bq78PL114

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78PL114, BQWIZARD, BQ76PL102

Hi,

I am designing battery management system for 12 cells in series accumulator for academic project. I know that bq78PL114 is not recommended for new designs and is not supported for several years. Nevertheless possibility of active balancing and getting information about impedance and SOC of each cell is very important to me.

While trying to connect with bqWizard via USB-TO-GPIO I am getting an error [picture 1]. After clicking ignore I am getting another window, which is asking me for password to unseal the chip [ picture 2].

I have suddenly purchased that chip. I didn't coped with connecting with that chip and configure it so far. I didn't set up a password also.

Could you send me default unsealing password by email - gorecki.gj@gmail.com? I would be very grateful.

Best regards.

The device is not shipped in the seal state. Are you using the PL114 EVM? The bqWizard screen indicates that the device is not communicating. Make sure that the cells are connected properly. Also, the USB-to-GPIO adapter has to be updated to to work with the device. The updater is available on the PL114 website.

No, I am not using evaluation board. I bought just QFN chip PL114RGZT available on Farnell. As if it is not shipped in the seal state, is it possible that it turned into that state becasue interrupting connection between PC and bq or something like that?

I have 2,52V on VLDO1 and 10,90 on VLDO2 (between GND and cell 2 is 7,80V; 7,80+2,50=10,30V). I have no idea, how to check corectness of circuit connection in other way.

Here is the firmware of my USB-TO-GPIO

I connected logic analayzer(Saleae) to SMBus wires also. I am including only a part of this communication.

I work on prototype, which use bq78PL114, no one bq76PL102 and 4 cells in series.

I would be very thankful for every constructive advise.

    Best regards.
