Hi,

I'm still new to battery charger/gauge so forgive me for asking a lot of questions. But this forum has been very helpful in accelerating my learning curve!

I'm using bq27531evm demo board with EV2400 and bqstudio.

I have successfully calibrated, selected chem ID, and configured bq27531-g1 IC. However, I don't think the battery is charging or discharging. I also see ERR / DENIED / AUTHFAIL status in the ChargerStatus register.

How can I start it to charge and discharge?

Is there a procedure to configure the charger via gauge commands? What charger parameters should I configure?

    Hi, mrausol,

    which charger are you using? Some charger could be found in bqstudio and  configure in bqstudio, some charger has specific GUI to configure the charging process. The gauge just reads the charging status but could not control the charge process.

    If you use a charger to charge the battery, you need to set charging current, charging voltage etc. 

    If you discharge the battery, just link to a electric load and set the fixed discharge current.

    Hi,

    I'm using the bq27531evm demo board which has bq27531-g1 gauge connected to bq24192 charger. When I connect the board to the PC and open the bqstudio it will recognize the gauge and show its registers and data flash in the IDE just as shown in the picture attached. However, I don't think the bqstudio communicate directly to the charger. But I could be wrong.

    Anyone here could clarify the procedure on how to configure the charger aboard the bq27531evm demo board?
