TPS92513HV: TPS92513HV MAX ESD DIODE CURRENT

Part Number: TPS92513HV

E2e Support,

We have a field issue where the PDIM pin (5V max) of this IC was connected to 48V through a 68K resistor. This is 700uA through the ESD diode in the IC.

What is the max current rating of that diode?

Thanks for your help!

WH

  • Hello WH,

I will check with the IC designer and get back to you for sure, but it is the holidays so response may be delayed. But generally they can easily take 1mA, 5mA is often specified even. So I doubt 700uA would do any damage. I will let you know what the designer thinks when I get a response.

    Regards,

    Clint

  • Hello WH,

    According to the IC designer:

"The ESD can handle 700uA theoretically. But we never tested to have the ESD clamp active for a long time so not sure if there is any reliability issue. The user should be aware of the risk and design it with caution."

So it hasn't been tested and if it was short term there should be no issues. I would just make sure it isn't a continuous situation or reliability may suffer. But a random event isn't likely to be damaging at only 700uA.

    Best regards,

    Clint
