TPS783: TPS78326DDCR and RICOH R1180N261C

Part Number: TPS783
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS706

Hi,

We are using the Ricoh R1180N26 part and we are looking for an alternative LDO from TI. We have found the TPS78326

is there another recommended part? instead Io=150mA could be Io=100mA

Thanks in advance.

Regards

david

  • Hi David,

Yes TPS783 looks like it may be a good alternative for you; however, to help select the best LDO for your application, I would need to know a little more about your application.

I see that Vout is 2.6V and that 100mA is adequate for your load. What is your Vin?

I see that both of these devices have low ground current. Is there any other feature that you need from your LDO?

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi Ryan,

Our project need a LDO with really low Iq because it is powered using one CR2 battery.

Our Vin is 3v but as you can see in the attached pic we use a step-up (3v3) and from there it is powered the LDO in order to have 2v6.

The main feature of the LDO should be low Iq and be pin compatible with the Ricoh reference.

The TPS783 is pin compatible and it has a low Iq and we think that it feets really well.

Instead 0.5uA we could use one with 1uA we are looking for different options

Is there another one that could be recommended?

    Thank in advance

  • Hi David,

You may also want to consider TPS706.  While it does have a higher ground pin current, It does have higher performance (ex transients) as well.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Many thanks  for your comments we will test the reference for 3v3 because for 2v6 there is not one.

If TPS706 has a better response of transients than TPS783 it makes it very interesting. We will look for some samples and test it.
