TPS7B7702-Q1: TPS7B7702-Q1 Reverse polarity

Part Number: TPS7B7702-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7B7702EVM

Hi,

I need some clarification on the TPS7B770x-Q1 antenna LDO :

When V Input (IN) is 0V :
Does the output pin is protected against Voltage VBattery ? Then what is the current going into the output pin

Same question when Vinput is 5V or 6V8
Does the Output pin is protected against VBat? What is the current going into the output pin (if there is some)

Thanks and regards,

Mohamed

  • Hi Mohamed,

    From the datasheet, both input and output pins are protected from short-to-battery. I used a stock TPS7B7702EVM (details can be find here: www.ti.com/.../slvuae9) to provide typical values. I conducted the following tests with output1 and output2 shorting to a 12V battery.
    Vin = 0V, when shorting to a 12V battery, current into OUT1 is 343uA; current into OUT2 is 465uA;
    Vin = 5V, when shorting to a 12V battery, current into OUT1 is 709uA; current into OUT2 is 830uA;
    Vin = 6.8V, when shorting to a 12V battery, current into OUT1 is 700uA; current into OUT2 is 823uA;

    Regards,
    Jason
