LM3429-Q1: LM3429 Questions

Part Number: LM3429-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3429

Hi,

  1. What is the maximum voltage of the boost output of LM3429?

  2. Does the MOSFET between nDIM and GND must be used? Can customer connect nDIM to MCU directly?

Thanks.

  • Hello Wayne,

The IS, HSP, and HSN pins are all limited to 75V. So if you need high-side current sense as shown on the front page schematic the maximum output voltage is 75V.

If you use a current sense resistor in series with the source of the FET to ground (connecting IS to the source of the FET) AND you can place the HSP/HSN current sense resistor at a point in the LED string that is <75V then you can have a higher output voltage. It would then just be duty cycle limited based on your switching frequency and input voltage.

You can connect an MCU directly to nDIM, it is a high impedance input.

    Regards,

    Clint
