LM3478EVAL: EVM Layout

Part Number: LM3478EVAL

The layout shown in the picture on the EVM page (http://www.ti.com/tool/lm3478eval) seems to be different from what is shown in the User’s Guide. Could you verify which is correct? The reason I ask is that I have a customer who wants to add a different inductor to the board. If the picture is correct it appears that there is a larger pad available to connect the inductor. If not, then the pad might not be sufficient. If the picture is correct can you post a .pdf of the layout here in the forum?

Thanks for your help with this!

  • Hi Richard,

We just inhered this part in recent APP organization change, and I cannot answer your question for sure. It seems the picture is an old version still having the National logo. The user guide shows an updated layout with TI logo.

Anyway, for test purpose, you can always solder a big inductor to the smaller foot print: one lead can solder to the board, and the other lead use jumper wire. It may affect some efficiency but the functionality should be okay: the jumper wire becomes part of the inductor in the new circuit.

  • Youhoa,

Thanks for your response. I was just wondering as there appeared to be a difference in the two layout. I just wanted to know which one was the current. I am going to assume that the TI layout is the current one.

I will pass this information to the customer and let you know if they have any further questions.

Thanks for your help with this!

  • Hello

I ordered http://www.ti.com/tool/lm3478eval and got it today. The layout in the User Guide is right. The picture on the web is wrong.

    Thanks
