BQ24090EVM: Charging issues

Part Number: BQ24090EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24090

Hello Team,

Our customer is evaluating the BQ24090. for battery charging. The customer faces an issue when battery is discharged:
“I’ve an issue with the Evaluation board BQ24090EVM-001. I noticed when the battery discharge completely and the battery goes in under-voltage protection, the charger BQ20490 charge or not randomly the battery when I put a 5V power in input. The charger doesn’t exit the power down state because the PG pin remains in Hi-Z.

Signal when the charger works correctly (Yellow=5V input, Green=battery out voltage):

Signal when the charger doesn’t work (Yellow=5V input, Green=battery out voltage):

The EVM board configuration is:
JMP1, JMP2, JMP4 are set.
JMP3 set to GND (and ISET tune for charge current of 800mA)
JMP5 is removed because the battery have a TS wire.

The power supply is a laboratory power supply 1A limited.”

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

Eran
