REG101: Failure modes of the 3.3V output device REG101NA-3.3

Part Number: REG101

Hi,

I'm presently working on a Failure Mode and Effect Analysis document for my avionic product and I have a specific question about the failure modes of the REG101NA-3.3 component (fixed output). The device is fed with 5V in my circuit and I need to know if the output voltage, upon an internal failure, could lead the output voltage to go beyond 3.6V ?

Thanks in advance,

Sylvain Poulin

  • Hi Sylvain,

The failure mode depends on what circumstances cause the damage to the regulator; however, it is possible that the output voltage could reach approximately the input voltage if the internal circuitry is damaged.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
