TPS2350: TPS2350-EXTENDED TEMP

Guru 13485 points
Part Number: TPS2350

1)looking for the  components with extended temperature range (-40C…95C),like the ontroller for ORing MOSFETs (Hot Swap Power Manager, negative line, -48VDC) like TPS2350

Do we have such device with extended temp range??

2)

Please look at TPS2350 Data Sheet (page 2).

As you can see the max. operating junction temperature range  is -55C…125C.

The recommended junction temperature range is -40…85C.

Could you please explain what is a max. case temperature for continuous operating mode?

What is a factor limits the case temperature?

  • Hi Eli,

To answer your first question, the TPS2350 is the only negative high voltage dual OR-ing controller with hot-swap device that we currently have available at this time. The Tj abs max goes up to 125C.

To answer your second question, the case temperature can be approximated by using the Rthetajc coefficient of the device, top of page 3 of datasheet  (look below):

For example, if we have a dual power input of 50V each, the total approximated bias current going into the device is around 3mA max. The case temperature should roughly be around 50.7*(50V*3mA) = 7.6C above the Tj.

Also, here's an app note explaining how to calculate and use IC package thermal metrics: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spra953c/spra953c.pdf

    I hope this helps :-)
