Hello,

Datasheet has following explanation about reverse current.

“The current in the parasitic diode must be limited to less than 1-A continuous and 5-A peak.”

Please advise the duration that LP38691-Q1 can withstand 5A reverse current.

Hello Toshio-San,

First the disclaimers: Reverse current capability through the LP38691 is not an ensured, or characterized, parameter. Reverse current through the LP38691 is not encouraged.

The 5-A peak current was derived from simulations done by the original design team, and represent the discharge of a large value Cout through the LP38691 by abruptly taking Vin to 0.0V. As such, there is a distinct RC decay to the current through the device.

Duration of the 5A peak is limited to no more than 1 milli-second.
