BQ24298: Is it possible to use an DC source in Vin of BQ24298 instead of USB interface?

I consider using BQ24298 or BQ25601 in my design, but I am not sure I can use BQ24298 even there is no USB interface. Could you clarify it?

Hello Newton,

You can use any DC source on VBUS (VIN). It does not necessarily need to be a USB supported source.

Just make sure to remain within the recommended operating conditions for VIN.

There is also a PSEL pin that determines what type of source you plugged in (DC source vs USB source). I would tie this to logic LOW.

You should also take caution in limiting the input current (through charger I2C register or through the ILIM pin) if your DC source has a output current limit.

And lastly, if your input source is above 6.2V, I would recommend using the bq25601, as it has a higher input voltage rating.

I noticed the zip file mentioned contains gerber files, but not layout files (Altium or Cadence). It would speed up our design if we got them. Are they available?
