TPS732-Q1: EMC difference between adjustable and fixed type

Part Number: TPS732-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS723-Q1

Hello,

I'm looking for 1%  accuracy 5V output Q-100 qualified LDO, and found TPS732-Q1 at TI's webpage.

But at page 2 of TPS723-Q1 datasheet, TPS73250-Q1 deleted at 2009.

I think this means SOT-23 package 5V fixed device is no more available,

so the only two options for me to use TPS732-Q1 is TPS73250QDCQRQ1 (SOT-223) or TPS73201QDBVRQ1 (adustable).

I wonder that there's any EMI issue if I use device resistors.

Is there any EMC test report for adjustable device compare to fixed one?

Or if TI have better device, please let me know.

thanks,

TS

  • Hi TS,

Yes that is correct, we will fix the website to remove the confusion.

EMI is normally not a problem with LDOs - linear regulators do not generate enough radiated noise to fail any EMI test. For this reason, we do not perform any EMI testing. If there was noise created from something connected to the output, I don't think there would be any difference in behavior from the fixed vs. adjustable version. I believe the most critical component there would be the output capacitor, any high-frequency current would flow through the output capacitor - this will be the same for both fixed and adjustable.

    Regards,
    Mike
