LM2588: LM2588

Hi, I'm using the LM2588S-ADJ/NOPB Simple Switcher.  The data sheet has 7 pins assigned however the footprint has 8 pads.  I assume this (extra pad) is for heat transfer?  Should pad 8 (thermal pad?) be tied to ground?  The datasheet doesn't discuss how to terminate this pad.
