TPS7B7702-Q1: Connection of the outputs for the TPS7B7702 Dual Version

Part Number: TPS7B7702-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00270

Hi Team,

on the TPS7B7702-Q1, is it possible to connect the outputs together to double the current?

If yes, how does the FB-Pins need to be connected (just one resitor devider for both FB pins)?

How does the current limiting need to be set correctly?

Thanks

Albert

  • Hi Albert,

While we have not attempted to parallel the two LDOs, it is theoretically possible.  You should be able to apply many of the same design principles from the TIDA-00270.

Again we have not attempted to parallel the LDOs, but since the current sense for the current limit is done internal on each channel independently, you should be able to set each current limit to half of your intended total current limit.  Furthermore, you should be able to tie LIM1 and LIM2 to a single resistor that is twice the size of the resistors you would use for each channel independently.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
