TPS53015: TPS53015 EVM-126 Input and Output Voltage Range

Part Number: TPS53015

Input Voltage Range:

The TPS53015 switching controller datasheet lists an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V.

The evaluation module for this IC, TPS53015EVM-126, lists an input voltage range of 8V to 22V.

Does anyone know why these are different?

Output Voltage Range:

The output voltage range of the TPS53015 is adjustable (0.77V to 7.0V) based on voltage divider values at VFB pin (datasheet p15).  I'm assuming that I can change these resistor values on the EVM in order to change the output voltage (Default Vout is 1.05V).  Is it possible that the Vin range on the EVM is set in order to meet this output range?

Basically, I would like to use the EVM for 5Vin and 3Vout.  Would like to make sure it can do this before I purchase.

  • Thanks for the question. It is very common for the evm to be designed for a particular application rail, In this case a 12V rail hence the 8V min range.

TPS53015 evm will support the 5V input that you were trying to use it for. Yes you can modify the feedback divider values to get the output voltage you need.

Please change the inductor value also if required based on your output currents. If you provide Vin, Vo and Iout would be glad to specify changes recommended.

    Regards,
