TPS25923: Maximum rating

Part Number: TPS25923

Hello,

Below is TPS259231 maximum rating and waveform. VOUT is varied by VIN. But if customer do hot swap, VOUT will be discharged slowly to VIN and maybe will cause VOUT over VIN 0.3V. Does it have damage risk by this condition? Thank you.

  • Hi Patrick,

As long as the internal FET is ON, there is no risk in getting VOUT discharged to VIN. As you see Figure 35 in datasheet (the same you posted), when Vin is removed, Vout follows Vin till 4.3V (approx). The internal switch remains in ON position till 4.3V (approx).

Further, the device gets turned OFF --> BFET voltage = 0V. This breaks the power path by turning OFF the external blocking FET (refer figure 43). Since there is no discharge path at Vout, the Cout holds the output voltage constant.

If your application needs reverse current protection, please configure the device as per Figure 43. Let me know your system requirements and use cases to suggest suitable configuration and device.

    Best Regards
    Rakesh
