LM5085: Encountering multiple pulses in discontinuous conduction mode

Part Number: LM5085

Hi,

One of my customers is seeing multiple pulses in discontinuous conduction mode and is not quite sure what is going on. I have attached their full question in this post.

Thank you!

  • Hi Drew,

The observed behavior in light load has probably to do with the noise floor at the FB pin and the trace length / routing of the FB network and the ripple injection components.

In the user guide of the LM5085 Evaluation board - AN-1878 www.ti.com/.../snva357b.pdf you can find a configuration for your reference. On page 12 - Figure 16 you can see the expected switch node behavior in Discontinuous Conduction Mode.

    Best Regards,
