BQMTESTER: Issues with BQ Multi-station tester and bq20z655-R1

Part Number: BQMTESTER
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ20Z655-R1

I am having an issue using the bqMultistation test. I'm not sure if I have multiple issues going on or what.

I'm using:

  • Win7 64-bit.
  • EV2300 64-bit driver installed and firmware update to 3.1r (found in this forum)
  • HPA169
  • Mulitstation Tester 2.18
  • Mulitstation setup 1.06. I have added the bq20z655-R1 to the Targets and Config.ini (found in this forum).

I have set my tester and DUT up according the picture in SLUU238B. The only exception is that I am only connected through SMB and not (also?) I2C and I do not have a external temp sensor.

When I run the station setup, I am able to see the two HPA169's but the 'Cal board found' is grayed out. 'Flash LEDs' does nothing. I add my golden ROM, select my proper device (bq20z655), complete and save.

When I run the Multi-station test, I get a '772 ERROR' which according to the troubleshooting guide is stating 'NACK' from no power. Shouldn't the 24V and 5V power supplies attached to the HPA169 power my DUT? Will the 24V supply power and "kickstart" my DUT so that I can test/cal it?

The device should be powered on. Disconnect P+ and P- from the DUT and measure the voltages on the bq20z655 EVM P+ and P-. if the evm is powered on, the fets should be turned on and you will measure the voltage across 1N and 1P on P+ and P- on the EVM. if that isn't the case, short 4P to P+ momentarily to wake the device up.

Also on the HPA169, measure the voltages on P+ and P- and see if you have a charging voltage, if you don't then your board might be faulty and you will need to trouble shoot to see where the problem is originating from.

    thanks
