LP2954: shutdown current

Guru 29690 points
Part Number: LP2954

Hi Team,

My customer considers to use LP2954IM (SOIC package).
The datasheet shows shutdown current is almost the same as supply current (IL=1mA).
Is it typo?

- shutdown current

- supply current (IL=1mA)

I believe shutdown current is less than supply current (IL=1mA) so would like to confirm just in case.

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan

  • Hi Yaita-San,

Upon checking on the datasheet, unfortunately the shutdown pin for the adjustable version of this device does not shutdown the internal circuitry completely and the device still consumes certain amount of current when shutdown pin is low. The datasheet is correct.

  • Hi Jason-san,

    Thank you for your support.
I understood the situation however why shutdown current (105uA typ) is larger than supply current (90uA typ)?

  • Hi Yaita,

I understand your concerns. I agree that usually shutdown current should be much lower. This device was originated back in 1999. There is very limit information for me to track. I checked the previous revisions on datasheet and confirmed the datasheet is correct but I don't know the reason either.
