WEBENCH® Tools/TPS62290: TPS62290 WEBENCH question

Part Number: TPS62290
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SWITCHERPRO, , TPS62097

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Everyone.

I have three questions.

1: WEBECH simulation of TPS 62290 is impossible,

It was able to simulate around Jan. 2017.

Is there something problem?

2: On Switcher Pro simulation results of TPS 62290.

What is the meaning of Default Input (Min. Normal. Max.)?

3: On Switcher Pro simulation results of TPS 62290.

What does Calculated Max. Temp. Mean?

Absolute temperature? Increase in temperature? (What is the standard number?)

If  you have information, then please reply to me.

Best Regards

Shing

  • Hi Shing,

Apologize for the inconvenience caused. SwitcherPro tool is no longer supported now. Some of the devices in WEBENCH like TPS62290 which used SwitcherPro as the engine will also not work anymore. You can try using the desktop version of SwitcherPro at: http://www.ti.com/tool/switcherpro However, we do not make any updates or support the desktop version of the tool either. Are you looking specifically for using the TPS62290 for any reason or are you open to use other IC's which can meet your requirements?

    Regards,
    Amod

  • Amod Vaze-san

    Thank you for your reply.

I already used the desktop version of SwitcherPro.
But I'd like to use WEBENCH simulation Tool for TPS62290DRV.

If can not use WEBENCH then I'd like to request simulation of TPS62290DRV on you.

Could you accept my request(TPS62290DRV simulation)?

    Example:
    Vin:+5V Vout:+1.0V Iout:2A
    -Efficiency cureve
    -Power Consumption
    -Thermal Design ⊿T

    Best Regards
    Shing
  • Shing-san,

Unfortunately since this is a relatively old device, we do not have a lot of information from SwitcherPro to give you the performance analysis you are looking for in WEBENCH. Apologize for the inconvenience caused.

    Regards,

    Amod

  • Hi Shing,

The TPS62290 does not support 2A. Is there some confusion in the part number or design requirements?

    Please use TPS62097 instead.
  • Hi Chris Glaser-san

    Thank you for your reply.

I have to apologize to you.
Input & output true condition is here.

    1) 5Vin 3.3V 0.6A
    2) 5Vin 2.5V 0.1A
    3) 5Vin 1.8V 0.5A

The TPS62290 function of my favorite is this.
    "Forced PWM"

    Best Regards
    Shing
  • Hi Amod -san

    In TPS 62290,
Is it okay with understanding that WEBENCH can not be used?

There is no environment that can simulate TPS 62290,
Is it ok to understand that you should not use it?

    Best Regards
    Shing
  • The TPS62097 also has the forced PWM function and can be used for all rails.

It is ok to use TPS62290, but it will not be in Webench. You can measure the efficiency and thermal performance on an EVM.
