BQ40Z50-R2: Chemical ID

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ40Z50-R1, GPCCHEM

Hi,

I am developing a battery pack with BQ40Z50-R2.
I attempted to perform chemistry update using BQSTUDIO, but chemical ID 0x247 was not found.
For BQ40Z50-R1, 0x247 is displayed on BQSTUDIO.
Please tell me the cause.

  • The bq40z50-R2 has some new features that require additional chemistry data that was not included in the ChemID when 0247 was created, so this ChemID is not listed as an option for use in the -R2 device. Which cell part number are you using? I can check the chemistry selection table to see whether a new ChemID is available for this cell.
  • Hi TEC,

    Thanks for quick reply.
    I'm using LGC 18650HB2.
Please check it and advice to me.
  • ChemID 1331 would be the newer option for that cell and it does not support the new features either. You can use the online GPCCHEM tool to see if you can find a match to a ChemID on the list. TI may be able to respond as to whether this cell is in the queue to create a new ChemID.
  • Hi TEC,

    Thanks for reply.
I can't find ChemID 1331 on the BQSTUDIO with BQ40Z50-R2.
Is there something else I can do?
  • I indicated in the previous message that ChemID 1331 does not support the new features and implied that it will not show up in the list. You can use the online GPCCHEM tool to see if you can find a match to a ChemID on the list. TI may be able to respond as to whether this cell is in the queue to create a new ChemID.
  • Sorry for my misunderstanding.
I will try using the CPCCHEM tool.
    Thank you.
