TPS80032: About indicator LED driver

Guru 21045 points
Part Number: TPS80032

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to know about indicator LED driver.

They are evaluating TPS80032 but LED flicker in periods less than 300ms(so it is different from the contents of the datasheet).

[Contents of the datasheet]

If the battery voltage is too low for startup, the LED driver gives three 300-ms pulses with a 300-ms duration between the pulses.

Does "LED" flicker except for the mention contents of the datasheet?

Kanemaru

  • Hi Kanemaru-san,

Which OTP version of TPS80032 are they evaluating with? Are they testing on their own board or on an EVM?

Regarding the charger behavior, there are a few reasons the indicator LED can be turning ON and OFF. In particular, battery temperature monitoring does not have hysteresis so if the voltage measured at the GPADC_IN1 is oscillating near the overtemperature point it can cause the charger to be enabled / disabled rapidly. Alternatively, if the battery voltage is reaching its target voltage and then dropping below its hysteresis point, it could also cause the charger to turn on and off.
  • Hi Kevin-san,

    Thank you for the information.

They are testing on their own board and I will confirm the OTP version.

    Kanemaru
