LM25010: Switching on and off

Part Number: LM25010
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25921A

I am currently using LM25010 to generate 5V from 24V.  I have a system in which I might have an external 5V power supply and I would like my board to switch over to using the external power supply if it is plugged in and turn off the LM25010 supply.  I am planning on using TPS25921A on the external 5V input, FWIW.  I was planning on using a FET, driven by the external 5V, to pull RON to GND when the external supply is plugged in.  Is there any issue with doing this?  Would I be better off increasing the voltage of the LM25010 circuit and adding a diode to make sure the external power supply isn't feeding back in to the LM25010 circuit, or is pulling RON to GND (through a FET) sufficient?
