TPS22954: Question on QOD

Part Number: TPS22954
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22953

Hello,

I am planning to use  TPS22954 (with QOD) in my design , currently using TPS22953 & planning to replace with TPS22954.

My Bias voltage will drop to 1.5 V from 3.3 V when the enable of the device device goes below the VIL falling threhold.  I tested it , the QOD works , the O/P discharges to 0 V within 10 mS & the load cap on the output is 88 uF.

Just like to know until what level of Bias voltage QOD will work good ?  Is there any constraints on VIN voltage levels  for QOD ?

Regards,

Vignesh

  • Hi Vignesh,

Because VBIAS=1.5V is below our minimum spec for the device, we cannot guarantee proper device operation at this voltage. However, here are a few things that may help you design your system accordingly:

    • VIN or VBIAS can be used to power the QOD circuitry. Therefore, even if VBIAS is below 2.5V, having a VIN of >2.5V will allow the QOD to work as expected.
    • Cold temperature is the worst case scenario for this specific low voltage QOD case. If you do any testing to verify proper operation, then I would test the switch at the lowest temperature you are expecting for your application.

    Thanks,
