TPS65217DEVM: TPS65217DRSLR, Default output voltage setting.

Part Number: TPS65217DEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65217

Hi All,

We are using TPS65217DRSLR for our  current project, and in this IC datasheet there are TWO reset register values which gives default output voltage at initial stage before programming.

Now my question is which register setting I will have to take to make sure my default output voltage?

I have attached the datasheet for your reference.tps65217_LDO3pdf.pdf

  • Amarnath,

The default votlage for LDO3 in TPS65217D is 1.8V.

    Thanks,
    Jay
  • The Device Comparison Table on page 3 of the datasheet accurately states the default configuration of all DCDC converters, LDO regulators, and configurable LDO/Switches for the TPS65217A, TPS65217B, TPS65217C, and TPS65217D.

Confirmed: LDO3 = 1.8V by default for the TPS65217D variant

The value in Figure 45 in the row labeled TPS65217D correctly states that the Reset value is 1b in Bit 5 (LDO, not a switch) and 00110b for bits [4:0], which corresponds to 1.8V in Table 21.

There are extra bits, missing bits, and other typos in the Bit, Field, Reset, and Description columns in tables 16, 17, 20, 21, and 22 that can lead to confusion even when the majority of these values are technically accurate. These mistakes will be corrected in Rev. I of the datasheet, but I cannot give you an estimated date when these updates will be published.

The Reset value for bits LDO3[4:0] (incorrectly shown as LDO3[5:0] of 1110b cannot be correct because they need to be different for every variant of the device and one value would not be sufficient. 01110b = 2.45V (assuming a leading '0', because 4 bits is not enough) and is not the Reset value for LDO3 for any A/B/C/D variant of the TPS65217 device.
