TPS92210: control by TZE

Part Number: TPS92210

Hi

I would like to know about function of TZE. This pin is detected the voltage(or energy of transformer) at this pin.

(DS P.20 TRANSFORMER ZERO ENERGY DETECTION)

Does it mean this device is voltage control? Or power control mode?

Because our customer would like the voltage control mode.

And is it possible to achieve stable PFC operation at less than 10W (output power) at high Vin voltage?

The target power is ~60W. So that, our customer want PFC operation at as possible low power.

Regards,

Koji Hamamoto

  • Hi Hamamoto-san,
The TZE pin detects when the secondary of the transformer has stopped conducting. This is used for timing of the gate drive signal so that the system remains in transition mode.
The PCL input is used to program the peak primary current each cycle. The TPS92210 has a current mode control and does not a constant power control function.
It can be used in the power range of 60W to less than 10W
