TPS720: TPS720

Expert 1070 points
Part Number: TPS720

I check  the possibility of using  the TPS72010 for supply 1V for DP83867 in my design.

The data sheet of TPS72010 does not describes the power-up sequence.

Hi,

Please advise,

In my design the input  voltage of  TPS72010 (1.8V) rises 40mSec before the BIAS (3.3V).

1.What is a behavior of TPS72010 in this case?

2.What is a maximum value of the X7R output capacitor for TPS72010?

3.Is it necessary to increase the input capacitor  if the output capacitor was increased?

Thanks

  • Hi Hen,

If you have the input voltage come up before the Bias rail you are violating the abs max of the device. This should be avoided and the Bias rail should be brought up before the Input.

There is no maximum output capacitor for the TPS720. What value are you looking to place here?

If you increase the output capacitor it is best practice to increase the input capacitor to help the transient performance of the device, but it is not necessary as long as the minimum input capacitance is met.
