TPS659037: OTP register setting

Part Number: TPS659037

Hi, I would like to know if user modified OTP register value, for instance, on TPS6590378, we turned ON SMPS7 and 9(by default, this resource is OFF), then after power cycle, will the SMPS7 still be ON upon boot up? If yes, what is the turn on sequence of the SMPS7 and 9? If the answer is no, then user has to turn on the SMPS7,9 everytime after the application SW starts to work?

  • This e2e question has been assigned to the expert on the TPS659037 device because it is very specific to this product.
  • Hello,

No, if you turn on SMPS7/9 through software, then it will not be enabled at the next power cycle. So you are correct that these should be enabled after every power-up by software.

  • Hi Karl,

    I saw in the TPS659037 User's Guide to Power AM572x and AM571x, SLIU011E, page 5, says:

Static platform settings — These settings define, for example, SMPS or LDO default voltages, and
GPIO functionality. Most static platform settings can be overwritten by a power sequence or by the
    user.

Does this mean the OTP value can be overwritten by user, and then take effective in the next power up? Which let us avoid manually change the regulator's output each time?
  • Hello,

That statement about the static platform settings means that the default values are loaded from OTP, but that you can write the registers to change the setting during operation. For example, the default voltage for SMPS12 is 1.15V, but that can be changed during operation to set the AVS value.

However, the default value 1.15V comes from OTP, and cannot be changed.

    Karl
