LM340-MIL: Pin Configuration

Part Number: LM340-MIL

I am looking for some clarification on the pin layout of the TO3 package.  Per the datasheet pin 1 is input, pin 2 is ground, pin 3 is output, and case is either ground or output.  Also in the datasheet in the Pin Configuration and Functions section, the TO3 diagram shows output and input as a pin and the ground being the case.  It seems like Input and Output are pins and the case is ground for the TO3 package.  What is the actual configuration?

  • Hello Jin,

Please see the TO3 diagram in section 5 on page 3.   That is the correct configuration.  There are only 2 pins on the TO3 package and the body is ground.

The table on page 3 is for the 3 pin plastic pacakges.  It is an error in the datasheet that there is no table for the two pin metal can.   This will be corrected on the next revision of the datasheet.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Let me know if you have any other questions, otherwise please ckeck this off as resolved.
