TPS54340: Selection of inverting circuit

Part Number: TPS54340
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM46001, LM46000, TPS54060A, TPS54160A, LMR16006

Hi,

I am considering an inverting circuit with the following specifications.
There is PMP4369 in the reference design, but is it possible to adjust and use this circuit?
Also, please tell me if there are other optimum devices.

(specification)
Input voltage : 10V to 24V
Output voltage : -15V
Output current : 0.1A

Best Regards,

  • Yes, it is ok to adjust the component values to work for other input/output/load specs.

For 0.1A load current from inverting output, you don't need a 3A device. 0.5A or 1A device is enough.

For the voltage range, the max input voltage seen by the buck is 24+15=39V, so 40V Vin max part is pretty close to the max voltage. You can use 60V rated part to provide more margin.

There are other choices such as TPS54060A or TPS54160A, LM46000 or LM46001, and LMR16006. The basic configuration is similar.

www.ti.com/.../snva722b.pdf is another reference guide for inverting design using buck converter.
