TIDA-00961: TIDA-00961

Part Number: TIDA-00961

Hello,

I see in BOM that you have chosen - L102, L103  327uH 7840-09-0014 Nova Magnetics Inductor, Toroid, Ferrite, 327 µH, 0.065 ohm, TH Inductor, 1380x1310x880mil.

But you have calculated another value - As stated earlier, the desired efficiency is 0.99, V IN(MIN) = 160 V, DPEAK_LL = 0.42, P OUT = 1600 W and FMIN = 450 kHz, the calculated value of L1 and L2 are 14.78 µH. The value of the boost inductor was rounded off to 15 µH.

Can you say me why?

Best regards

Popov

  • Hello Popov,

Thanks for your information. If you look into the schematic, you will see a small marking "redesign" besides the inductor. This means that the inductor is not exactly the one that they have in the drawing. As the TIDA guide says, it is actually 15uH.

For CRM PFC, when the input, out voltage and power level are fixed, di/dt of the inductor is fixed. With the choice of frequency, the inductance can be calculated. Our design uses min. 450kHz switching, so that to reach a peak current in such a small period, a small inductor is necessary. The TIDA guide has given a detailed calculation for it. Hope it helps.

    Thanks and regards,
    Lixing
  • Hi Popov,

Thanks for bringing this to our notice. The BOM has wrong value. We will get this corrected. The actual part used is 019-8903-00R from Precision Inc.It is a 15uH inductor.

    Regards,

    Salil
