TPS61031: Reverse current

Hello,

We are using the TPS61031 in a battery back-up circuit. We use a Lithium Manganese battery.

Is there any structure within this device that would protect the battery from reverse current? Normally, we would use a Schottky diode for reverse protection, but our thought was that the TPS61031 would provide adequate protection.

Is there any kind of structure used between SW and VOUT that would provide reverse current protection?

if the reverse current protection means stop current from VOUT to SW, this answer is yes if the device is enabled PFM.
why select TPS61031? you can have a look at TPS61021A

Could you give me more information on how the tps stops reverse current, even in the event that the TPS fails?

Also what are the main differences between the other version?

the high side MOSFET will turn off the inductor current drops to zero. so there is not reverse current.
why the TPS fails? what other version you refer to?
