LM117HV: LM117HVK/883 & LM117HVKSTL/883

Part Number: LM117HV

Hello,

We have a customer who is asking the following, we are not finding a clear answer in the datasheets:

"Have a question regarding Texas Instrument's  LM117HVKSTL/883.   What does the  "STEEL (STL)"
stand for in the device part number?  Is LM117HVK/883 a direct replacement for LM117HVKSTL/883 ?"

Could someone please look in to this and advise?

Thanks,

  • Hello Gabriel,

The LM117HVKSTL/883 and LM117HVK/883 will be functionally the same.   They are both in the TO-3 package and have a 1.5 A current limit.

The LM117HVKSTL/883 is covered by the LM117HV datasheet while the LM117HVK/883 is covered by the LM117HVQML datasheet.   There are differrences in parametric limits between the two.

I am not sure when the LM117HVKSTL/883 was sold if ever.   It was not offered back in 1995, which is the farthest I can look back.
