LM5105: Is there a problem with other parts of LM51... family

Part Number: LM5105
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5113,

Hi there,

as seen in the link below there is a known problem with the internal bootstrap diode. Because Sean and I are in the same company this topic came up to me. It is planed to use the LM5105 on a coming up design. Do I have to expect similar problems as with LM5113? Should I plan some footprints for an external bootstrap or is this IC not affected?

  • Hi Marcel,

Thanks for your interest in our devices, and welcome to e2e!

This problem in the LM5113 is due to its lower operating voltage for GaN. Sine the LM5105 has a higher voltage rating, the issue doesn't effect the the LM5105 or other LM51xx devices.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

PS if this answered your question, I'd appreciate it if you could click the green button letting us know!
  • Hello Marcel,

Thanks for asking. I will answer your question regarding LM5113. It is not fully necessary to use an external diode for LM5113. But to help with better startup, it is recommended to have an external diode if needed.

Please let me know if you have any further question regarding this part, and I will leave the part regarding LM5105 to someone who is working on this to answer.

    Thanks and regards,
