TPS1H100-Q1: Built in current limit to 2A

Part Number: TPS1H100-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS4H160-Q1

Hello team,

Can you recommend any solutions form below customer question:

We are looking for Hi side / low side power switch with built in current limit to 2A (settable is also acceptable). If we can get quad pack that is great. Let us know if you have anything for us

  • Hello,
are you looking for quad channels high side switch and each channel capable of 2A load? what is the nominal load current? TPS1H100 is good candidate for 2A load current and the current limit can be set externally using a pull down resistor.
TPS4H160 is quad channels high side switch and can drive 4 loads.
    Regards
  • Thanks Mahmoud. Please see below customer response:

    YES

Nominal load current will less than 1.5A and short limit we are looking for 1.5A to 2A max.

TPS4H160 is quad channels high side switch and can drive 4 loads.:
this is perfect, could you let me know the current limit set here by CL resistor is each channel current limit or combined sum of all channels?
  • Hello Randhir,
TPS1H100-Q1 single channel is excellent for 1.5A nominal load. The junction to ambient thermal resistance is 41C/W and the maximum On-resistance is 166mOhm at 150C. The max power dissipation is Square(1.5A) x 0.166Ohm = 0.37W. The ambient to junction temperature increase is 41C/W x 0.37W = 15C. The device can support easily 1.5A at 125C ambient.

TPS4H160-Q1 quad channels has 280mOhm On-resistance at 150C and 32.7C/W junction to ambient thermal resistance. It can support around 1A load per channel at 110C ambient. The RcL limits the current on each channel and not the sum of all channels. That means each channel load current is limited to 1A if Rcl is calculated, using RcL = VcL x KcL/IOUT = 0.8V x 2500/1A.
