Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54060EVM-590,
We use this device for a +/-15V power supply, similar to the TPS54060EVM-590, nominal input voltage 24V.
We are using the TPS54060A for several years now. We received a new batch of boards where we have a start-up problem.
At the negative output we have a voltage peak of about 15V positive. This is only at start-up, but this peak destroys other devices like opamps.
Our schematic:
What can cause this reverse voltage peak on the negative output?
When I remove C120 the output doesn't have this reverse peak, but this capacitor was always used on previous boards and also on the evaluation board.
This capacitor is also recommended in several datasheets.
What is the risk when we leave this capacitor out?
