Use I2C/SPI to set output of a buck converter

Hi,

I've been looking for a power module that can step 24VDC down to 11-20VDC with a 1-2A output that can have the output voltage set over I2C/SPI or some other protocol from a processor. Does TI produce any such modules or does anyone have recommendations on where I can look for such a device, if they even exist?

Hi Peter,

Thank you for reaching out. Most of our buck ICs with I2C or SPI are in the lower voltage range. However, you can use an I2C controlled DAC like LM10011 to control adjust the output voltage.

Thanks for the help! Are there any modules that you would recommend in place of the PMP15016 (LMR23630) that would require fewer components/smaller footprint?

LMZM33603 is one option. It is a 36V input, 3A output buck converter module. The LMZM33603 integrated inductor power module reduces design complexity and saves up to 40% PCB area compared to discrete solution. LMZM33603 is ideal for industrial applications due to small size, fixed frequency, power good, frequency sync, EMI tested, and 105C ambient rating.
