BQ2019: Advanced Gas Gauge Host Firmware

Part Number: BQ2019

Hello,

My design has a bq2019 as battery monitor and i'm creating the firmware following this document:

First, I have set the design data of my battery on the bq2019 flash. Then the monitor is supossed to calculate some values and write them on the page 0 of flash, but when i read this registers they are empty.

I don't know what i'm doing wrong or if exists other method to know the time to run of the battery.

may  you please help me?

Thank You!

  • Hi Alberto,
Is there a reason you selected the bq2019? We have much newer products and since it's a simple battery monitor it will require you to develop your own algorithm. We would recommend using a ready-to-go fuel gauge which includes the algorithm, but would need more details about your battery to propose a suitable gauge. Even if you only want to the raw coulomb count, I would recommend using a bqJunior device (such as bq27x00). The hardware is newer than bq2019 and you can use SLUA347 to find out how to use it as a battery monitor instead of a battery gauge.
