Dear team,

my customer are looking for N channel Mosfet replacement for existing design (see attached existing mosfet datasheet).

The spec is:

Peak current- 26A

Pulse duration -10ms

Working Frequency -20hz

Working voltage 50v

Mosfet Voltage- 80v at least

Low RDS 5mohm and less low Q gate total

Package TO-220

Please advise mosfet with same specifications and better.

Shai,
The closest cross we have to the ON Semi device is the CSD19503KCS.

However, if they want something that is better performance with resistance, as you indicate, in the 5mOhm range (the On Semi is 10mOhm max), we could try either the CSD19501KCS or the CSD19505KCS. I would caution however, that these lower resistance devices will inevitably be more expensive than the CSD19503KCS.

Thank you for your proposal that improves the rds resistance but according to SOA area It will not withstand the pulse current.

I apologize. It was not clear in the original post that this device was meant to operate in the saturation region. Is this for hot swap?

What VDS do you need to withstand the 10ms, 26A pulse for? Our best SOA 80V device would be the CSD19506KCS. Is this for hot swap?

I am not very inclined to believe the SOA on the On Semi datasheet - it looks calculated not measured. I actually wrote a blog about how we measure SOA - we tend to err on the conservative side.
