UA78: UA7812CKCS Temp Question

Hello,

Customer is using the UA7812CKCS whose min operating temperature is 0C. The customer needs to know the consequences of using this device in an environment that's -40C. Is there a part that's rated for that temperature?

Hi David,

This is a very old device and it was originally designed to work in the temperature range from 0C to 125C. I would not recommend use it outside the recommended temperature range as device has been designed, tested and verified at the temperature range listed.

If you could share your customer's needs, we can recommend alternative devices.

Hi David,

I agree with Jason. It's no good idea to use a regulator outside the recommended temperature range. You will not necessarily destroy it, but it can stop work properly.
