Hi,

Can anyone suggest a suitable low noise switching regulator/LDO for TPA3121D2.

VCC > 24V from 28V.

Power dissipation is around 1W.

Can you tell me the output voltage and current you require? Are you interested in a switching converter followed by an LDO?

TPA3121D2 can operate from input voltages from 10 V to 26 V. can get from your amplifier. i would need to know more about your application to comment further.

Hi

We have a 28V power supply in the design. Need to power audio amplifier from 28V.
Application>audio recording for safety critical applications in noisy environment.

What do you want to down convert to? if your minimum input is 24 V, you will probably want to down convert to 22 V. Is your 1 W spec audio power output or power dissipated in your supply?

Hi John,

Thank you for the response. We require to down convert from 28V to 24V(Nominal supply for audio Power amplifier IC).
Audio spec is 4W. Power dissipated in the power supply is around 1W.

For 4W audio power you will need about 200 mA at 24 V. Our Webench tool returned 161 possible solutions.

You could do something as simple as an LM317 linear regulator that would dissipate about 0.8 W:

or for a switching regulator, you could look at LM14006Y or TPS5410:

Hi John,

I am considering the LM14006Y. What would be the efficiency I could achieve with 26-32V input and 28V @ 250mA Output?
This is for calculating the worst case power dissipation.

TPA3121D2 can operate from input voltages from 10 V to 26 V, so 28 V would not be the proper output voltage for LMR14006Y. I would recommend Vin = 26 to 32 V and Vout = 24 V. In that case the nominal efficiency would be about 97% according to Webench,
