UCC27324: Loss Calculation - typical gate charge

Part Number: UCC27324

Hi,

In the datasheet (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ucc27324-q1.pdf) equation (6) states that the power loss inside the device can be calculated by:

P = C * V² * f = Q_g * f

My question is whether the last part of the equation should be Q_g * f * V?

Q_g * f calculates to the gate drive current, from my understanding of it.

Best regards,

Torben

  • Hi Torben,

    Welcome to e2e and Thanks for your question about UCC27324Q1 datasheet power dissipation formula. I am an apps engineer with UCC27324 and will help you out.

    You happen to be completely correct, thanks for spotting this so I can fix it. This is an error in the formula from the Q1 datasheet and should be Q_g*f*V. You can find the correct formula in UCC27324 (non-Q1) datasheet (Section 9.2.2.4 equation (6)).

    Please let me know if you have any more questions around UCC27324 power dissipation

    Thanks,
