LM2842: LM2842 vs. LMR14010A

Hi,

I have a design that is powered to 3.3V from an industry standard 24V to 48V supply using the LM2842 switcher (slow option, 550kHz).

In order to improve efficiency I am considering the LMR13010A switcher. It appears to me that the latter could nearly make a drop-in replacement (minus the increased current limit, which is not needed in this application). The switching frequencies of both parts are almost the same, due to the large tolerance in the LM2842 part.

I also considered the LMR13006 with the slow option (1.1MHz) that would match the LM2841 with its fast option (1.25MHz). But then I would surely violate the minimum ON time constraint when stepping down from a full 40V to 3.3V.

Am I missing something? From your gut instinct is the LM2842/LMR13006 a reasonable pick for an every day switcher?

    From the Rds on perspective it seems that LMR14010 would perform better in efficiency at full load compared to LM2842. Just double check on whether your application does not run into minimum on time (700kHz on LMR14010).

    Also the maximum voltage for LMR14010 is 40V with abs max of 45V
