LM2575: The peak-to-peak ripple voltage on Unregulated DC Input

Part Number: LM2575
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2595, LM317

Hi!

I learn you dataseet for LM2575 and other DC like lm317, LM2595, LM7805, etc.

In all this dataseet сircuit  input voltage present how "Unregulated DC Input".

My qestion: what should be The peak-to-peak ripple voltage on Unregulated DC Input must be for LM2575  or other your DC converter.

Do you have some rules or standarts for input ripple? Max, Min, Recommend?

I use 24AC or 12AC and need it for select the correct capacitor after the diode bridge.

This AC-DC convertor will power MSP430.

Thank you!

  • Hi

I dont think there is a specification per say for the unregulated ripple for the input. It all depends on the converter line rejection capability for rejecting the input ripple so that it will not appear to the output. I would say a value around 5% nominal can be used as a rule of thumb

    Thanks
